Unicorns met with Piyush Goyal, plans to set up 'Startups Club of India'

 A historic event took place on Wednesday, when Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met with 54 of the 111 Unicorns of India. This was the first time that such a large number of Indian startups, valued at over $1 billion each, came together to interact with the government.




The meeting was a fruitful exchange of ideas and insights on how to boost the Indian startup ecosystem, which has emerged as one of the most vibrant and dynamic in the world. The Unicorns shared their success stories, challenges and aspirations with the minister, who appreciated their contribution to the economy and society.


One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the proposal to set up a Startup Club of India, which would be a platform for the Unicorns to collaborate and communicate with the government and other stakeholders on various issues related to the startup sector. The club would also help in mentoring and supporting the aspiring startups and creating a conducive environment for innovation and entrepreneurship in the country.




The minister assured the Unicorns of the government's full support and facilitation in their journey of growth and expansion. He also highlighted the various initiatives taken by the government to promote ease of doing business, digital infrastructure, regulatory reforms and domestic capital formation. He urged the Unicorns to leverage their global presence and network to attract more foreign investment and talent to India.


The meeting was a landmark moment in the history of the Indian startup ecosystem, which has shown remarkable resilience and potential amid the pandemic. The Unicorns have demonstrated that India is not only a market, but also a hub of innovation and creativity.
